Peperami adds Mexican-inspired snack

Peperami announced last week that it is launching the Peperami Tex-Mex this month. The new addition to the brand will be the first new flavour for eight years since the launch of the Barbecue flavour in 2008.

Research carried out by Peperami indicated that consumers were looking for something more adventurous. According to the brand, Mexican food has overtaken Chinese as the nation’s favourite foreign cuisine, with a third of UK families buying or trying Mexican food in the past year (Robinson, 2015).

“We’re extremely excited to introduce the first new Peperami flavour in almost a decade,” said Pavan Chandra, marketeer at Jack Link, which owns the brand.

“We have analysed trends and listened to our consumers, so we are confident that Tex-Mex is a snack that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and will satisfy their desire for new, exciting flavours.”

The new product is flavoured with onion and spices, including cayenne pepper, paprika, coriander, garlic, nutmeg and cinnamon. It will be available as a single 25g stick, in packs of five, or in sharing bags.

Its launch will be backed by £1 million-worth of promotional activity across TV, PR, social and digital platforms throughout the year.
