Snaffling Pig takes Dragon’s Pantry crown
Flavoured pork crackling specialists The Snaffling Pig Co were crowned the winners of the Dragon’s Pantry pitch competition at this year’s Farm Shop & Deli Show, which took place at Birmingham’s NEC from 18-20 April.
The contest provided food entrepreneurs from across the country an opportunity to showcase their pitching skills. After three days of competition, The Snaffling Pig’s perfect pitch, including a question and answer grilling before a panel of ‘Dragons’ and a live audience, secured a win for the Buckinghamshire-based company.
Judges at this year’s panel included Simon Hurley of Olives Et Al and Paul Hargreaves, owner of Cotswolds Fayre.
Hurley, who was also the competition organiser, praised Nick Coleman and Andrew Allen of The Snaffling Pig for their “confident and engaging pitch”.
“The judges were taken by their ambition for growth and passion for innovation within the snacking category and it’s this potential that led them to be crowned winners of Dragons’ Pantry 2016.”
Meanwhile, co-owner of the company, Allen, expressed his excitement at being given the title. “We’re delighted to have won the Dragon Pantry event at this year’s Farm Shop & Deli Show. It’s always a pleasure to spread the word about our porky venture, and to show the world what an awesome product pork crackling can be.
“I’d like to make a special mention to our fellow competitors, who were all of the highest standard. It was great to take part in an event with other such passionate entrepreneurs.”
