AHDB Pork supports Ladies in Pigs
Ladies in Pigs (LIPs) has been given support of £100,000 thanks to a sponsorship deal with AHDB Pork.
To announce the sponsorship, LIPs members, including chairman Sue Woodall, joined AHDB Pork chairman Meryl Ward and AHDB Pork strategy director Mick Sloyan at the Pig and Poultry Fair.
Ward said: “AHDB Pork has long been a supporter of Ladies in Pigs and the work it does in encouraging the promotion, sale and consumption of British pork. Our sponsorship of LIPs will provide the group financial independence and give them the autonomy to promote British pork where they feel they can best make a difference.”
LIPs will use the money to continue promoting British pork at events across the country throughout the year.
Woodall added: “UK farmers are losing up to £10 on every pig they sell, so continuing the work we do, promoting British pork and stimulating demand for consumers to go out and buy this amazing and versatile meat, we can help our British farmers sell more pork to the British market.
“The sponsorship grant from AHDB Pork could not have come at a better time for LIPs and for British pig farmers, who are really struggling, with many being forced to scale back or leave the industry altogether. With this money we can commit to promoting British pork and championing our industry.”
