Tesco slides into the summer season with mini burger kit
Supermarket chain Tesco is capitalising on the North American barbecue trends with the introduction of what it claims to be the first home slider burger kit in the UK.
The sliders, or mini burger kit provides consumers with: British pulled pork marinated in a blend of herbs and spices and a maple chilli sauce, cooked for two-and-a-half hours for ‘fall apart tenderness’; three quality mini steak burgers made from prime cuts of British beef and seasoned in sea salt and black pepper; three cuts of oak-smoked Cheddar cheese and six mini brioche rolls.
“Sliders are one of the hottest snacking trends in restaurants, gastro pubs and bars right now,” said Tesco’s burger buying manager Sophie Yost.
“But we think customers would love the chance to try them at home, both at BBQs and as luxury snacks or meals for youngsters, bringing the restaurant experience into homes for the first time.”
The American trend is proving to be so popular in the UK that it’s inspired a ‘Slider Decider’ contest in London’s Dockland, which sees top chefs compete to make the ultimate slider.
“We’re always looking to help customers and these slider kits are really easy to assemble at home,” added Yost.
“If this trial is a success, then we will look at including different meats and flavourings in the range.”
Tesco’s finest Ultimate Slider Kit is available at £5 and serves two to three people.
