Morrisons introduces ‘daddy of all steaks’
Supermarket chain Morrisons is launching the ‘daddy of all steaks’ just in time for Father’s Day.
The 42oz tomahawk steak will be available from tomorrow (Thursday 16 June) until Sunday 19 June.
Priced at £15, the steak weighs 1.2kg, six times heavier than an average 198g steak. It sits at 14 inches long and eight inches wide on average.
Named after its resemblance to the Native American axe, the tomahawk steak is aged for 14 days, trimmed and sold with the bone in for additional flavour.
“The tomahawk will offer dads this Father’s Day the ultimate carnivore experience,” said Morrisons butchery expert Darren Spauls. “However, if you can’t defeat the beast alone, the steak will serve two to three people.
“The tomahawk is guaranteed to get tongues wagging at the dinner table. This massive bone-in steak is tender, has bags of flavour and dad will love its marbled texture. We’re sure that jaws will drop when customers see the tomahawk at our butchers’ counters.”
Spauls recommended that the giant steak be cooked by frying it and sealing it first for around three minutes on each side, before browning it in the oven for a further 25 minutes to produce a medium steak.
