Food hall set to open
A £3m food hall, bar and restaurant championing the very best 'proper' regional food and drink is due to open in Hockley Heath, Warwickshire, on 12 September.
Featuring a butchers, greengrocers, delicatessen and separate cheese counter, the Oak is aiming to be an exciting leisure destination, boasting over 9,000sq ft of retail and dining space.
Formerly the Old Royal Oak pub, located off the A3400 Stratford road, two minutes from the M40, the facility aims to meet the everyday shopping needs of nearby residents, while providing a pit-stop and attraction for passing motorists.
The focus is set squarely on supporting the rural community, primarily through high volume sales of naturally reared meats, locally grown fresh produce and speciality food and drink sourced from small, independent producers. The venture has also created over thirty jobs with up to twenty more anticipated over the next 12 months.
Managing director Tony McKinlay said: "We have spent a lot of time putting together a really enthusiastic team of people who are all committed to promoting regional produce, what we call 'proper' food.
"In order to create a complete shopping experience, our deli and bottle shop will stock premium products from Europe and around the world, but more than two thirds of our fresh stock comes from within a 20 mile radius and we plan to keep reminding people of that fact."
