Scotland’s best butcher creates Scotland in a pie
Winner of Meat Trades Journal’s Scottish Butcher’s Shop of the Year 2015, Boghall Butchers has created a pie especially to showcase Scotch Lamb PGI just in time for the Royal Highland Show, taking place from 23-26 June.
The Royal Highland Show Pie has been designed to celebrate the best of Scotland’s seasonal produce by using local ingredients from exhibitors at this year’s show such as Scotch Lamb PGI, East Lothian carrots, Ayrshire potatoes, local oil, spices and seasoning.
“The quality of produce available in Scotland is really a cut above the rest, so it wasn’t difficult to create something special for this year’s show,” commented Paul Boyle, owner of Boghall Butchers.
“We often talk about Scotland on a plate, but this is Scotland in a pie, bursting with delicious Scottish flavours. We work hard to deliver the very best to our customers and hope we can inspire others to champion Scottish produce.”

“Boghall Butchers, which was World Pie Championship winner in 2005 and 2009 and is a member of the Scotch Butchers Club, has done a terrific job creating a special Royal Highland Show pie and I, for one, can’t wait to try it!”
Paul and his wife Christine, who is a pastry chef, will be offering a pie masterclass on Sunday 26 June at the QMS stand at 2.15pm.
