AHDB recognised for international achievements
The Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board’s (AHDB) Beef & Lamb division has been recognised at an awards ceremony in London for creating demand for Quality Standard Mark (QSM) lamb on the Polish market.
The levy board was awarded with the Breakthrough Trade Award at the Make Europe Work! Business Awards 2016 for its commitment to developing sales of British lamb to Poland – a market estimated to be worth £43 million in export sales over the next four years.
“Poland offers great opportunities for UK sheep meat exports, thanks to its low domestic production coupled with an increasingly affluent population and growing consumer interest in experimenting with different cuisines,” explained Jean-Pierre Garnier, head of AHDB exports.
“The award is testament to the cooperation between the UK industry and the network of the British Polish Chamber of Commerce (BPCC), who we’re working closely with to maximise the potential of the market in both the retail and foodservice sectors.”
The awards were organised by the Council of British Chambers in Europe (COBCOE) and are designed to recognise strategic European trade development.
