Edwards of Conwy secures further Co-op listings
Welsh butcher and 2014 Butcher’s Shop of the Year winner Edwards of Conwy has secured a further deal with The Co-operative.
It has added four new sausage lines to the range currently stocked by The Co-op, which is tipped to double volumes sold through the retailer.
Simon James, managing director of Edwards of Conwy, said: “Our work with The Co-op has opened up important new markets for us in particular in the more rural Welsh communities.
“We are working closely with The Co-op to satisfy the increasing demand for locally produced, high-quality produce.
“It’s a collaborative approach and we are pleased to see our success together deliver this significant volume uplift.”
Earlier this year, the butcher signed the deal with The Co-op to stock burgers and sausages in more than 160 Welsh Co-op stores.
Simon Dryell, ranging manager for The Co-op’s food stores in Wales, said: “The Co-op is committed to offering more locally sourced produce conveniently.
“Edwards of Conwy is a great Welsh success story and we are delighted that, by working closely together, we can respond to changing consumer tastes and demand – delivering benefits for customers and for both businesses.”
