Dalziel acquires Burma Bacon Supplies
Retail butchery specialist Dalziel has expanded its business after acquiring Staffordshire-based Burma Bacon Supplies for an undisclosed sum.
Burma Bacon is a distributor of bacon, cooked and fresh meats, and cheese operating from a distribution centre in Newcastle-Under-Lyme.
As part of the Dalziel group, Burma Bacon will carry on trading under the same name in a deal that secures the future of 25 jobs at its base.
“This acquisition heralds an expansion of product lines for Dalziel,” says managing director Stuart Dalziel. “Burma is very strong in bacon, gammon and cooked meats, and the deal gives us access to a great product range, and most importantly secures all jobs for the existing staff.
“As well as continuing Burma’s comprehensive product range, we can enhance it with the introduction of Dalziel’s own branded beef and pork, and other lines popular in our meat division.”
This new deal comes in line with the group’s policy to pursue strategic acquisitions. Dalziel continued: “The company is continuing its pursuit of strategic acquisitions where such businesses are complementary to our product expertise and service reach.
“There is great synergy between Dalziel and Burma Bacon with both firms being family businesses.”
Managing director of Burma, David Machin, will continue to manage the distribution centre for the immediate future.
