Fire at 2 Sisters factory leads to evacuation
Fire crews were called to 2 Sisters Food Group’s factory in Caxton Way, Thetford around 3pm on Sunday, 17 July following reports of a burning smell from employees.
The factory, which is part of 2 Sisters’ added-value poultry and fish division, successfully evacuated roughly 270 members of the team – all of whom were accounted for.
A statement from the company said: “We understand insulation in a roof void was found smouldering. The cause is being investigated. Fire crews successfully dealt with the problem and ongoing production will remain unaffected.”
The damage caused by the incident is currently under investigation.
