SuperMeat & Fish Christmas Product Awards unveiled
It’s an early Christmas for Aldi as it picked up six awards at this year’s SuperMeat & Fish Christmas Product Awards.
The winners of the competition, which is designed to provide a platform for supermarket suppliers to showcase their high-quality Christmas meat products, were announced online here.
This is the second year of the SuperMeat & Fish Christmas Product Awards and, like last year, competition for the top prizes was tough.
Rod Addy, editor of Meat Trades Journal, said the standard of entries was high. “In tough times, it was encouraging to see so much creativity shining through in chilled and frozen meat and fish products and by the looks of things, consumers have a real treat in store for Christmas 2016.”
Discounter retailer Aldi was the big winner, picking up awards in six categories, including the Best Celebration Pie for its Exquisite Jewelled Layered Pie which wowed the entire judging panel.
Frozen specialists Iceland won five categories including the Best Christmas Charcuterie, Christmas Poultry and Shellfish.
Morrisons and the Co-op both picked up two awards while Tesco won one for its Venison Haunch with Sloe Gin & Cranberry Sauce in the Best Christmas Game Product category. Winners are able to use the SuperMeat & Fish Christmas Product Awards logo as a marketing tool.
