Welsh Lamb hits the festival crowd

Some of the biggest names in pop will have the chance to sample high-quality PGI Welsh Lamb at this year’s V Festival.

Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) has teamed up with renowend chef, Luke Thomas (pictured), to provide the meat to perfomers at the event.

Now in its 20th year, V Festival takes place on the 20 and 21 of August in Chelmsford and this year features performances from Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Sia and many more.

All the entertainers will receive the opportunity to taste a dish of shoulder of Welsh Lamb cooked by Thomas in spicy orange and harissa butter, and served with pomegranate, feta cheese and a red onion and mint salad.

“We have worked with Luke before, including at last year’s V Festival, where his lamb dishes went down a storm,” said HCC consumer executive Elwen Roberts. “I’m delighted that we have the oportunity once more to bring the finest PGI Welsh Lamb to one of the main events of the summer music and comedy calendar.”

Thomas, who became Britain’s youngest head chef when he took over the Sanctum on the Green retaurant in Cookham in 2012 aged 18, said he is very excited about this opportunity.

“Last year was a huge success, and taking one of my favouirite foods, Welsh Lamb, to showcase a product very close to home for me is extrememly special,” he said.

“The food is best described as street food, incredibly tasty, fresh and vibrant with knock-out flavours surrounding the lamb.”
