World's best pork sausages for Team GB
The British Beefeaters took home the best pork sausage title at this year’s World Butchers’ Challenge.
The competition, which took place on Saturday, 10 September in Australia’s Gold Coast, saw teams from Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand and France compete in a gruelling three-hour challenge to determine which team has the best butchery skills.
Although they may not have taken away the top prize, the team from Great Britain can come home with their heads held high after winning the award for the best pork sausages.
The overall title went to Team France Boucherie, who entered the competition for the first time this year, putting an end to the New Zealenders three-year winning streak.
“We are extremely proud of the final result, and especially of the path travelled to get to this point,” read a statement from the French team.
“Thank you for all of your unfailing support during all these months of preparation, and of course thank you to all our partners for their support in this adventure.”
The teams were given a side of beef, a side of pork and a whole lamb and were tasked with three hours to create an innovative display designed for a modern retail outlet.
Independent judges from each competing country scored the teams on general workmanship, meat cutting, display and the creative usage of the meat products.
