Bernard Matthews blasts off with FAB new line

Bernard Matthews has partnered with ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) to create the company’s first licensed offering.

The Thunderbirds Are Go turkey shape pack will launch at Asda this month, with other retailers to follow soon after. This is also the first frozen goods product for the Thunderbirds Are Go brand.

Katherine Hall, assistant brand manager at Bernard Matthews said: “We are extremely excited to be working with ITV to launch our first licensed product in our frozen children’s range of breaded turkey products. The iconic and recognisable vehicles in ‘Thunderbirds Are Go’ are ideal shapes to create into delicious turkey products, and to make mealtimes more fun. We believe the huge popularity of Thunderbirds Are Go married with our decades of expertise in producing tasty shaped products, is the perfect combination for success.”

Trudi Hayward, svp head of global merchandise at ITVS GE added: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Bernard Matthews and significantly boosting Thunderbirds Are Go’s FMCG offering. Bernard Matthews is a trusted and family favourite brand and the fact they have selected Thunderbirds Are Go as its first ever license, is testament to the brand’s popularity and commercial appeal. We’re looking forward to seeing the iconic Thunderbirds vehicles becoming a teatime treat for families across the UK.”

Bernard Matthews was recently acquired by Boparan Private Office in a pre-pack administration deal. Earlier this year, Bernard Matthews reported a fall in sales with figures submitted to Companies’ House showing annual sales for the period ending 28 June 2015 of £277m, down from £307m the previous year.
