Bidfood’s ‘innovative’ turkey the centrepiece of huge Christmas range

Bidfood has launched its largest-ever selection of on-trend Christmas products, with its innovative no-bone turkey cushion the star of the show. 

The Turkey Cushion with Pork & Orange Stuffing is a selection of whole turkey breasts hand-trimmed by expert butchers. The product can serve eight to 10 people. With no bones and all meat, it cuts down on waste to offer a hassle-free Christmas, said Bidfood.

In total, the business has launched more than 120 new products for its 2017 festive range with over 40 gluten-free items as Bidfood aims to grab a slice of rising demand for free-from foods.

While the free-from market is a growth area identified by the firm, its own research showed that 87% of people believed Christmas would not be the same without turkey, meaning extension innovation in its meat category has been underway too.

Bidfood has launched a one-person Duck and Turkey Cushion with Morello Cherry Stuffing.

To get the meat party started, Bidfood has a ‘Christmas on a stick’ skewer, made up with a pork chipolata, turkey cube and stuffing ball.

A twist on an old favourite is its new take on pigs in blankets. Dubbed the ‘Three Little Pigs’, Bidfood wraps bacon around three chipolatas. Next year, it hopes to use three different flavours of sausages.

For people who do not want poultry as the main meat meal, Bidfood has a few other carvery options: first is its Red Tractor pork collar – an underused fifth-quarter cut of pig, cooked with a sweet and sticky muscovado sugar and clove rub.

There is also a British Lamb Shoulder Cushion with Persian-spiced Apricot Stuffing.
