Time to vote for top meat personality

The nominations are in and we now have four top names in the running to take home the title of Meat Industry Personality of the Year at this summer's SuperMeat & Fish Awards.

Sainsbury's Tom Harvey, ABP's Richard Cracknell, Eblex's John Cross and the Food Standards Agency's Tim Smith all have a chance to win the prestigious honour, taken home by a number of leading players in recent years, including Brian Haigh, Stuart Roberts and Jim Viggars.

MTJ editor Ed Bedington said: "The real election starts here! The nominations have been made, so now it's over to you to vote for your winner, which will be revealed on the night. We'll put up all four names to vote for on www.meatinfo.co.uk, so log on and make your choice."

Voting is already live and the polls will close on 9 June.  >> Vote Now

This year's SuperMeat & Fish Awards sees Asda, Budgens, The Co-operative, Lidl, Tesco and Sainsbury's all competing for titles in the UK's premier meat industry awards. The event aims to recognise and reward excellence across the supermarket retailing of meat and fish. This prestigious event, held at the Hilton Hotel in London, on 1 July, evaluates products and stores, with one retailer being declared the overall SuperMeat Retailer of the Year.

Bedington added: "Store judging is now under way and we're looking forward to a great competition on the night. These awards create a real buzz within the industry."

This year's event is sponsored by Bpex, Clarke Wilmott, Eblex, Freedom Foods, Hybu Cig Cymru Meat Promotion Wales and Vion. For table bookings, contact Elizabeth Ellis on 01293 846593, or email elizabeth.ellis@william-reed.co.uk.
