Six-year-old sausage designer boosts butchers sales

A six-year-old boy has helped triple sausage sales at a north-east butcher’s shop after winning a Diamond Jubilee competition.

Daniel Bansal, from Gosforth, was the winner of a right royal banger recipe competition run by George Payne Butchers in Brunton Park, when customers were challenged to create a signature sausage fit for the Queen ahead of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Owner George Payne said: “Daniel’s lamb, mint and redcurrant jelly sausages are selling like hotcakes and have tripled lamb sausage sales.”
A pack was also sent to the Queen ahead of the Diamond Jubilee, which coincided with the Princes Road shop’s own 25th anniversary.
