Eastenders’ Barry booked for Butchers’ Fair

Actor Shaun Williamson will take centre stage at Meat Trade Journal’s Butchers’ Fair Autumn, which will be held at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate on Sunday 7 October.

Williamson, best known for his role as Barry Evans in EastEnders, has appeared alongside comedian Ricky Gervais in hit TV show Extras and Hollywood film, The Invention of Lying. A former host of the 24 Hour Quiz on ITV, he also won Celebrity Mastermind and Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes with his performance as Meatloaf.

He will compère the competitions at the event, which will include MTJ’s prestigious Champion of Champions competition.

Celebrity aside, the Butchers’ Fair Autumn will give UK butchers another opportunity to source new products, network, pick up business tips and pit their products against rivals. A wide range of exhibitors – from machinery suppliers to ingredients manufacturers and wholesalers – have already signed up and the event will feature live demonstrations and presentations from industry experts.

MTJ editor Ed Bedington said: “This is our second Butchers’ Fair of the year and we are expecting it to be bigger and better than ever. These events offer an excellent opportunity for butchers to expand their business, learn from their peers and extend their networks, not to mention gain recognition by entering the competitions. I would urge all butchers to sign up early and join us for what is bound to be a great day.”
