New members join FSA board

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has appointed and reappointed members to its board, with Roland Salmon as the new chair of the Welsh Food Advisory Committee.

Salmon recently retired as the director of Public Health Wales’ Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre, and his appointment was made by Mark Drakeford, Minister for Health and Social Services in the Welsh Assembly.

Chair of the FSA Jeff Rooker said: “Roland Salmon brings a powerful display of public service in Wales to the board and the Welsh Food Advisory Committee.”

Additionally, Henrietta Campbell was reappointed as the chair of the Northern Ireland Food Advisory Committee and to the board.

Rooker said: “I am very pleased at the reappointment of Dr Campbell for a second term. She has made a formidable contribution to the FSA board and has been forensic in ensuring that Northern Ireland’s views are raised in discussion.”

Salmon will stay in the post for three years, ending May 2016.
