Countdown begins for meat awards dinner

The 2006 Meat Industry Awards are once again set to be completely sold out, according to organisers Yandell Publishing.

With four months still to go, over 300 guests are already booked for the five-star, black-tie dinner which takes place at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, London, on 30 November.

Voting is also at record levels this year and, according to organiser Mandy Parker, the industry is set for a great night when the very best from right across the UK meat trade are recognised. This includes the industry personality of the year which in the past has recognised such eminent trade figures as David Walker, George Adams, John Howard, Richard Field, David Maunder and Mark Adams.

There are 15 categories, which include nine voting or nomination categories and six product categories. These are:

Best Poultry Product

Best Lamb Product

Best Beef Product

Best Pork Product

Britain's Best Sausage

Best Organic Product - Meat & Poultry

A special additional category will, as always, recognise the British Meat Processors Association's 'Young Meat Processing Personality of the Year'. To enter products or book tickets for the awards dinner on 30 November, contact Mandy Parker on 01908 613323 or email

The deadline for nominating product entries is 1 September 2006 and the judging of products will take place on 20 and 21 September 2006 utilising the superb test kitchen facilities at MLC Winterhill. Products must be delivered to Winterhill no later than 19 September.
