Marel gives insight to international customers

Processors from around the world were given an exclusive insight into the latest technology on offer from leading machinery supplier Marel recently.

The multinational company opened its doors to customers in Aarhus, Denmark, last month, to showcase some of its latest developments and innovations. More than 200 customers, all the way from China to Ireland and many points in between, took part in Marel's ShowHow event in which the company had set up a range of demonstration lines in its Aarhus manufacturing plant.

Visitors were given live demonstrations of everything from pigshead deboning machines, the latest high-tech slicers, speed batchers and the firm's innovative Innova software systems. Presentations were also made throughout the day on a wide range of topics, from the customer perspective through to production and consumer trends.

Meanwhile, the company has also announced its third-quarter results, with revenues of 164.3m (£131.4m), down 2.8% on the same period for 2011. However, total revenues for the first nine months of 2012 are up 10.6% compared with the same period last year, and operating profit has risen 8.9%.

Marel CEO Theo Hoen said: "The market in 2012 has been challenging, with results in the last two quarters below our target. Despite this, we have achieved strong growth this year, with operating profits close to 9%, and expect to meet our EBIT target of 10-12% soon again. We believe that demand is building up and we have many promising projects under way, which we expect will turn into orders in the near future."
