The Great Hampshire Sausage & Pie Competition returns

The Great Hampshire Sausage & Pie Competition will be held this year on Tuesday 18 March.

Following a successful contest last year, with more than 170 entries across 12 categories, the competition will be held at the Holiday Inn in Winchester, and will be sponsored by Lucas Ingredients, Dalziel and Bpex.

There is one new category for 2014: students and apprentices under the age of 24 can compete for the Young Sausage Maker award.

The Hampshire showdown, which promotes local butchers and British meat, will see entrants enter a number of categories including Traditional British Sausage, Hampshire Sausage, Home-cured Bacon, Meatballs & Faggots, Pies and Charcuterie.

Expert judges from around the country will decide the winners, with the event kicking off at 11.30am.
