The Farm Shop & Deli Awards has announced nine regional winners who showed highest levels of service, product knowledge, initiative, innovation and community involvement.

The nine winners were Cranstons Cumbrian Food Hall, Ludlow Food Centre, Arthur Howell, Keelham Farm Shop, Hannan Meats, Ardross Farm Shop, The Sussex Produce Company, Johns of Instow and Ultracomida.

Chair of Judges Nigel Barden said: “Elaine Lemm and I have travelled the length and breadth of country, from Northern Ireland to Scotland and right down to the deep depths of the South West, visiting large and small independent speciality retailers to identify our ‘Regional Champions’.

“The hours spent on the road have been amply justified as we’ve been lucky enough to meet some hugely driven, focused and talented individuals championing the absolute best in fresh, local produce that the United Kingdom has to offer. They’re huge assets to their regions.”

The announcement was made in association with Olives Et Al and the nine winners were picked from 300 entrants, with 19 commended.

Managing director of Cranstons and winner of both Butcher of the Year and North West Regional Champion Philip Cranston said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award, especially given the quality of the competition. Looking through the winners and runners up it is clear that the UK’s independent food sector has a lot to celebrate.”
