British exporters showcased at Asian event

Eblex and Bpex will be showcasing 14 exporters of British meat at the Food and Hotel Asia (FHA) convention in Singapore between 8 and 11 April 2014.

The event sees 2,900 exhibitors and 60,000 attendees gather together over three days. As the market has only just opened up to British boneless cuts, beef will be the focus of the stand hosted by Eblex and Bpex. Other displays will include lamb, premium pork, sausages, bacon, pies, ham and offal.

Bpex and Eblex export manager Jean-Pierre Garnier said: “FHA is a key date on the world food calendar. It takes place only every two years – alternately with Hofex in Hong Kong – and is an eagerly awaited event. The show is attended by a large number of Asian operators and even from further afield. Thus, it has become the major meeting point for the Asian meat and food trade.

“In addition, Singapore itself is one of the most attractive markets in the world for premium meat and food products. The country produces little food and needs to import it. The UK is well-placed, due to the high quality of its fresh meats and meat products, to supply this demanding market.”

Stephen Tan, chief executive of show organiser, Singapore Exhibition Services said: “We’ve come a long way over the years, growing the show to become Asia’s key business platform for the food and hospitality industries.”

“Going beyond being a sourcing ground for the regional industry, the show is also a knowledge-sharing platform with the FHA 2014 International Conference and an international competition arena, delivering a holistic experience to all attendees at FHA 2014.”
