Lincolnshire butcher’s joins Q Guild

After picking up an award at MTJ’s 2013 Butcher’s Shop of the Year awards, G Simpson butcher’s has made it into the butcher’s Q Guild.

The butcher’s, based in Heckington, Lincolnshire, won the Midlands and East of England category at last year’s awards and has now been recognised by the Q Guild for its “quality and innovation”.

Gary Simpson, owner of the chain, which comprises three shops, has been in the trade for 14 years and said business was going from strength to strength: “We currently employ 15 full-time and five part-time staff, but we realistically need another five full-time preferably.

“We have bought from the majority of the same suppliers for the past 14 years and have developed a fantastic relationship with those. We supply some top-quality food to the catering trade, as well as offering a great service to local customers.”

Simpson said he hoped being a member of the guild would allow him to share ideas with other members: “I am always looking to improve my business and what better way than networking with the industry’s best businesses to gain valuable ideas and, hopefully, be able to give some ideas to other people.”

Sandy Boyd, general manager of the Q Guild, said: “We’re delighted to welcome G Simpson Butchers to the Q Guild. We know that their quality and innovation will sit very nicely with our long-held industry-leading values.”
