Robin Hood sausage contest celebrates 21st year

Meat organisation the Nottinghamshire Council of Retail Meat Traders is celebrating its 100th year with its annual Robin Hood Sausage Championship in Nottinghamshire.

The championship, which is also celebrating its 21st year, is now open for entries and, after trouble finding a venue, the sausage competition will be held at its home at the Nottinghamshire County Show.

“We are very pleased to announce our 21st Robin Hood Sausage Championship being held in the centenary year of the Nottinghamshire Council of Retail Meat Traders,” a spokesperson for the organisation said.

The seven competition categories include: Savoury Pasty or Pastry Slice, Lincolnshire-style Sausage, Best Sample Pork Sausage, Speciality Sausage, Speciality Pie, and this year’s new class Sweet Pie or Pastry, which butchers and bakers alike can enter.

To enter the 21st Robin Hood Championship, this year being held on Sunday 10 May, go to the website or contact the secretary by email at or by phone 01522 778600.
