Muirhead-based award-winning butcher S Collins & Son has lined up rising Irish TV chef Adrian Martin to give cookery classes at six local schools and two fund-raising events this summer.

Managing partner Stewart Collins first met the 23-year-old chef, who fronts the hit Irish TV programme ‘Chef Adrian – the Craft Butcher’, when visiting Dublin last year with the Q Guild.

In the show, Martin visits craft butchers, local suppliers and farmers, talks to them about their produce and cooks up dishes using local ingredients.

As a result of their meeting, Collins has asked Martin to visit six Glasgow schools over a three-day programme, with the aim of promoting healthy cooking and eating. In addition, he will also be holding two cookery charity fund-raising events.

“These educational and engaging demos will be entirely free to the schools,” said Collins. “We hope they will help give pupils, parents and staff some inspirational and motivational ideas for fun, healthy meals made with fresh ingredients.
