The search to find UK’s best butcher’s shop is on!

The time has come to start Meat Trades Journal’s annual search for the best butcher’s and farm shops in the UK. Entries to the Butcher's Shop of the Year competition are now officially open, with 12 categories to enter this year.

The winner of each of the six regional categories will go forward to be considered for the overall title of Butcher’s Shop of the Year, which last year saw Welsh-butcher Edwards of Conwy walk away with the hotly contested accolade. In addition to this, there are five national awards categories, include New Butchery Business of the Year and Young Butcher of the Year, to fight it out for.

Georgi Gyton, deputy editor, Meat Trades Journal, said: “These awards serve to recognise the best butchery and farm shop businesses in the UK, from Cornwall, to Inverness and everywhere in between. In addition to celebrating the cream of the crop when it comes to butchery, the awards are also a great way of highlighting your products and services to the local community. Previous winners have gone on to pick up contracts with national retailers, and have seen increased footfall in their shops thanks to the coverage gained in both Meat Trades Journal and the national press following the awards. If you have a butcher’s or farm shop with something to showcase, then this is the competition for you.”

The awards ceremony will take place at Aspire in Leeds on 12 November 2015, and is kindly sponsored by Weddel Swift, Quality Meat Scotland, Bpex, Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales, Tican Chilled and Kerry Ingredients (Lucas). The drinks reception is sponsored by Middleton Foods Products.

To enter the awards please contact Rebecca George on or call 01293 610422. The deadline for entries is 7 August 2015.
