Crawshaws plans nationwide growth

The Crawshaws Group has unveiled ambitious long-term plans to significantly grow its business and increase its presence throughout the UK. 

The fresh meat and food-to-go retailer plans to increase its estate to 200 stores nationwide, moving out of its traditional north of England foothold.

It currently has 34 sites in England, following its acquisition of Gabbotts Farm in April, which comprised 11 stores based in the north west and a small distribution centre in Astley, to complement its factory operation in Hellaby.

A spokesman for the Crawshaws Group said it plans to open up to five more stores by the end of this year and then up to 25 stores a year over the next seven to eight years in order to reach the 200-site target.

“We believe this is the most exciting and scalable business model within the retail sector today and we are delighted that we will be able to bring excellent quality products at value prices to more and more customers around the UK”

The Crawshaws Group hopes to grow its presence outside of the north of England, not ruling out any part of the country as a target for the proposed new sites.

“Clearly there are plenty of opportunities within our immediate catchment in the north of England, but we are also focused on a nationwide roll-out strategy for the business.”
