Provision Trade Federation appoints new chair and vice-chair

The Provision Trade Federation (PTF) has announced the appointment of its new chair and vice-chair.

Rob Nugent, operations director at Direct Table Foods, replaces Andy Smith as PTF chair. Nugent has been with Direct Table Foods since 2001 and, before that, held food technology roles at Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencer. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Food Science & Technology, chairman of the Food Club International and a liveryman with the Worshipful Company of Butchers.

Outlining his priorities for tenure, Nugent said: “I am delighted to have been elected as the new chair of the PTF. Despite the tough global market and challenging trading conditions in the domestic market, this is an exciting time for the organisation. My priorities will be to work with the PTF team to grow the organisation, enhance its profile with our important stakeholders and improve the service we deliver for members.”

Liz Sutton, founder and director of Delamere Dairy, was also elected as PTF vice-chair. Sutton started her dairy career in 1985 and was involved with the development of Organic Matters. She was also the first chairman of the Goat Dairy Association, which she helped establish in 2009.

She said: “I am thrilled to have been elected as PTF’s vice-chair and the appointment is made all the more special as the first goat dairy representative to hold senior office within the Federation.”
