Acoura Board welcomes new special advisors

David Gregory is set to join Acoura, a provider of risk services for the food and drink sector, as an advisor when he steps down from his position as chairman of Red Tractor at the end of the month. 

Gregory previously spent 26 years with Marks & Spencer where he served as technical director prior to his retirement in 2009. His other credentials include being a visiting professor at the University of Reading Centre for Food Security, a member of the industrial advisory board of the Roslin Institute (a national institute of bioscience), and a Fellow of the Institute of Food Science and Technology.

In addition, Gregory will be joined by Ton Christiaanse, who has worked alongside processing organisations such as Vion, and Lisa Ackerley, who is also known as the Hygiene Doctor.

“Issues such as sustainability, traceability and supply chain management have never been more important, and we are seeing a huge growth in demand not just for auditing and certification but new solutions that make managing food production safer and more transparent,” explained group chair Paul Egan.

“We are focused on helping to do that and, by bringing in David, Lisa and Ton, we have added some of the most experienced operators in the food and drink sector to our team. They, in turn, will be able to pass their knowledge and insight on to our clients across the globe.

“It marks another stage in Acoura’s development as a key player in a vital industry and their guidance will underpin the growth strategy for the company in the years ahead.”

The three new special advisors will be adding several years of experience to the already knowledgeable Acoura. The company has been serving the food and farm processing sectors for over 20 years. It currently services more than 18,000 beef and lamb farms throughout the UK, and has an involvement with over 200 food manufacturers, with focuses on the red meat industry.
