ABP closes Blackburn plant

ABP Food Group, one of Europe’s leading privately owned processors and providers of beef, lamb and sausage products, has announced plans to move activity away from its plant in Blackburn.

This news comes after the reopening of the modernised Ellesmere plant, located in Shropshire.

“The ABP Food Group has announced that it is moving its operations from its Blackburn plant,” said an official statement from the group.

“This follows a review of activities at the site and the reopening of the new state-of-the-art abattoir at ABP Ellesmere, Shropshire.

“The company has undertaken a full collective consultation with colleagues at Blackburn, all of whom were offered alternative roles elsewhere in the company.”
