Welsh Lamb hopeful of export boost in Dubai

Key exporters in the Welsh red meat industry met with over 50 of Dubai’s high-end purchasers in a networking event hosted by Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC), with the purpose of boosting Welsh Lamb exports.

“Our aim was to invite Dubai’s important decision-makers from the top venues in their local food industry to sample premium PGI Welsh Lamb and to meet some of our leading players who are very interested in exporting to the Middle East,” explained Deanna Leven, export market development executive for HCC.

High-end hotels, resorts, wholesalers and different sized retailers were among the businesses that attended the event. Guests were welcomed by British Ambassador Paul Fox, alongside his wife Vicky, to the Radisson Blu Hotel, Deira Creek, Dubai.

Guests were treated to a range of Welsh Lamb dishes that included herb tomato bread topped with pan-fried Welsh Lamb loin, Welsh Lamb spring rolls with sweet chilli sauce and rack of Welsh Lamb.

“The evening stimulated many promising discussions and we’re hopeful that good business relationships have been established that will prove fruitful to the future Welsh Lamb export market,” added Leven.
