A leading hygiene technology solutions company in the UK, Holchem, has launched a new help-service assisting SMEs [small and medium-sized enterprises] to gain important hygiene ratings with SALSA [safe and local supplier approval] certification.

Suppliers who are able to show that they are able to produce safe and legal food are able to receive the SALSA food-safety standard. Its purpose is to allow smaller food suppliers to demonstrate that they adhere to a set of standards that deliver the appropriate levels throughout the production process.

The scheme provides an affordable route for smaller businesses to be recognised for high-quality management and hygiene standards.

“The development of the SALSA and SALSA-plus classifications goes to show the ever-growing importance of quality hygiene programmes across food and beverage production. Regardless of the size of a business’ operation, buyers still demand an assurance of consistent, auditable quality controls,” explained Sarah West of Holchem.
