Alfresco Chef is new corporate member of Q Guild

Barbecue equipment supplier Alfresco Chef has been awarded corporate membership of the Butchers Q Guild.

The newly-formed company was created by brothers and business partners, Michael and David Brennand, who already have connections with the Q Guild through their sister company, Manchester-based retail butchery supplier Innovative Food Ingredients.
Michael Brennand said: “It’s all about a shared passion for food, great meat and offering the best in outdoor cooking, similar to how discerning butchers offer the best meat and service to their customers. The Alfresco Chef aims to provide all-year-round al fresco cooking, creating an outdoor cooking theatre for customers, friends and family alike.”
The company champions the Traeger Grill, available in various sizes and said to be ideal for domestic use, entertaining or catering.
He added: “The Traeger Grill is perfect for butchers who want to add something different, an extra dimension to their in-store offerings by keeping existing customers happy and attracting new ones who desire great taste, innovation and a phenomenon that’s bang on trend.
“Timing has never been better. The ‘low and slow’ cooking revolution is showing no signs of losing pace. The recent AHDB lovepork television campaigns featuring ‘zero effort pulled pork’ aim to raise the awareness of pork, enthuse about its versatility and rejuvenate its image within the 25–55 years age group.
“Further activity will be repeated this month (Feb) and March, and again in April and May. By being able to easily replicate what’s seen on television, read on restaurant menus and endorsed by influential celebrity chefs is not only exciting, but also highly lucrative for butchers.
“What’s more, this is a year-round opportunity. By tailoring meats, cuts, marinades, sauces and accompaniments to exactly what customers desire, you remove any seasonality which is sometimes associated with traditional barbecue fayre.”
The Alfresco Chef team will be attending the annual Q Guild Barbecue Competition and National Conference at Eastwood Hall, Eastwood, Nottingham, on May 15 and 16.
Gordon Newlands, Q Guild manager, said: “The Alfresco Chef’s values sit nicely with those of the Q Guild’s members and in this day and age of ever-increasing outdoor cooking we welcome their expertise and warmly welcome them into the Q Guild.”
