Angus & Oink forms ‘hot’ sausage alliance

BBQ ingredients business Angus & Oink has teamed up with Aberdeen butcher’s Davidsons to launch an award-winning range of speciality sausages.

The partnership sees the two businesses come together to sell a three-set range of flavoursome sausages known as the Pitboss range.

All of the sausages are made with Davidsons’ quality meat, but include distinctive Angus & Oink elements: Beef Hotlinks sausages include Angus & Oink’s ‘The General’ BBQ dusting; there’s a Jalapeño Cheese pork sausage complete with ‘Mr Rubba Rubba’ Cajun seasoning, and finally the Kielbasa – a Polish pork sausage with House BBQ flavours.

“Sharing a passion for quality products, and authentic barbecue taste, John Davidson and I quickly struck up an alliance,” said Scott Fraser at Angus & Oink.

“Although there are a variety of spiced sausages available on the market, there are very few that really pack a punch in the flavour stakes and deliver on the authentic taste of barbecue, encompassing the flavours of Southern USA. We plan to develop the range and include other hotspots of outdoor cooking, such as Argentina and even South Africa.”

All of the Pitboss sausages created by Davidsons have won high praise at the Scottish Craft Butcher Awards earlier in May. The Kielbasa picked up a gold gong, while the Jalapeño Cheese and the Beef Hotlink picked up silver awards.

“We have had a great partnership with Angus & Oink through Aberdeen’s CUE Barbecue restaurant, where the new sausages have gone down really well,” said John Davidson, owner of Davidsons Specialist Butchers.

“We were so confident in the quality of this sausage we decided to enter them for the Scottish Craft Butchers Awards in early April, where the judges wholeheartedly agreed – a truly fantastic achievement for a newly launched product range that takes our latest creations of authentic flavours direct to our customers in foodservice and home BBQ,” he added.

Packs of the award-winning Pitboss sausages can be brought from local Davidsons butcheries in Aberdeenshire. Bulk orders can be made online with free delivery at
