McAtamney’s expands customer reach by acquiring property

Hunters Butcher Shop in Limavady, Northern Ireland, has been acquired by K&G McAtamney’s.

As of today (Monday, 16 January), McAtamney’s, which was named best butcher’s shop in Northern Ireland in Meat Trades Journal’s Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards will take over the store.

“We are delighted to take up this opportunity to expand our shops and offering in Limavady,” said John Apperley from McAtamney’s.

The acquisition comes after Ian Hunter of Hunters Butchers sold the business so he could enjoy his retirement.

“We plan to maintain the current staff and will continue to trade as normal, with no interruption to business, expanding the current offering to include our own products and ranges,” added Apperley. “We wish Ian Hunter a very happy retirement.”

The new store will add to the nine that McAtamney’s already has in Ballymena, Ballymoney, Coleraine, Cookstown, Garvagh, Limavady, Kilrea, Magherafelt and Maghera.

The award-winning shop prides itself on sourcing local produce and only hand-picked, farm quality-assured beef.
