Range extension for Porky Lights planned

Porky Whites is planning a “significant range extension” to its Porky Lights range.

As well as rebranding its existing beef chuck steak burger under the lower-fat content label of Porky Lights, the manufacturer plans to release “a number of new variants” to the range.

The brand will also release another chuck steak burger under the Porky Whites range to replace the one that has moved to Lights.

Porky Lights has been in the spotlight over the past month, following a spat between the manufacturer G White & Co and Slimming World over the fat content of the product. After testing the product, Slimming World had reclassified the number of Syn points it contains. When G White & Co disputed the reclassification, it became mainstream news, with independent testing conducted on BBC’s The One Show.

G White & Co has said it wants to achieve “closure” on the issue with Slimming World, as this has had an impact on sales and the business.
