Innovative Food Ingredients appoints Q Guild’s Gordon Newlands

Food distributor Innovative Food Ingredients (IFI) has appointed former Q Guild general manager Gordon Newlands to help develop its independent butchery and processor customer base.

IFI is a family-owned business, specialising in the distribution of quality food ingredients throughout the UK. It distributes for global food ingredients manufacturers AVO and Newly Weds Foods.

Newlands (pictured) has worked as a master butcher and manager at numerous businesses and has been a training assessor at the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders Association. Before taking up his role as general manager of the Q Guild in February 2017, he was quality control manager at Campbell Brothers.

David Brennand, managing director of IFI, said: “We are delighted that Gordon Newlands has chosen to join IFI after receiving many offers of employment from key players in our industry. He brings a wealth of experience, tremendous expertise, great passion and enthusiasm. Gordon will be focusing on supporting and developing the independent butchery and processing sectors in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the north of England.

“He will be on hand to provide innovative solutions to help grow our customers’ businesses and to also assist with modern-day added-value production and processing challenges. He will also introduce and demonstrate our growing portfolio of products in an informative, engaging and innovative manner. With over 30 years’ experience in butchery, meat industry training, management, including a senior position at Bidvest Edinburgh, and latterly as general manager of the Q Guild, we feel that Gordon will be a fantastic asset to our business and will complement the talents and expertise of our ever-expanding team.”
