Deadline extended for SuperMeat & Fish Awards 2017

Retailers seeking to enter the SuperMeat & Fish counter awards free of charge can still submit their entries if they hurry, as the deadline has been extended to Friday 26 May. 

Separate from the product awards, the counter awards recognise quality counter displays and butchery skills. Retailers need only nominate a handful of counters, at no cost.

Meat Trades Journal can then discuss with entrants the detailed requirements. Retailers should provide examples of best practice, excellence, uniqueness and innovation. Examples should be for any period in the last 12 months.

They may include information on initiatives or projects that are underway, but not concluded.

Achievements or initiatives undertaken by individuals within the team should be included, highlighting how it has affected team activity. Judges then visit the stores entered to assess them.

Retailers benefit from recognition for their staff’s hard work. They can claim the title SuperMeat & Fish Retailer of The Year, should they come out on top of the battle for the counters, and all entrants gain detailed feedback reports on their performance.

Morrisons made the most out of winning the overall title last year, even citing the accolade in its interim results and using the SuperMeat logo in in-store, print and TV advertising.

The counter awards are free for retailers to enter. In addition, suppliers can enter frozen and fresh standard products and Christmas products in several protein categories, including beef, lamb, pork, poultry, seafood and game. For a full list of categories, click here.
