Central Foods gets Red Tractor seal of approval

Central Foods has achieved Red Tractor accreditation for its KaterKing Prime Pork Meatballs.

This is the first time a product from the frozen food distributor has been awarded with the status. The meatballs are produced using British pork and have been a popular choice among customers since their launch in 2014. The firm claimed to have sold nearly two million meatballs in 2016.

“Caterers and foodservice operators include the KaterKing Pork Meatballs on their menus in a range of different dishes from Italian-style meatballs in tomato sauce with pasta to spicy tapas dishes,” said Central Foods managing director Gordon Lauder.

“It’s a great-tasting product, made with British meat. But now it has also been given Red Tractor accreditation, which means added assurance for our customers and for their customers too. Red Tractor is the UK’s biggest farm and food standards scheme, and is a vital signpost for consumers looking to eat quality UK food.”

The Collingtree-based firm supplies more than 220 independent wholesalers, as well as larger national and regional wholesalers. Foodservice caterers, including the pub, hotel, restaurant, staff canteen, school, hospital, coffee shop and football sectors, are all also listed as customers.

“The accreditation is something that restaurants, pubs, hotels, bars and other outlets can highlight on their menus,” added Lauder. “The Red Tractor logo signifies support for British farmers.”

The KaterKing Prime Pork Meatballs are supplied ready-cooked and are free from MSG and hydrogenated fats.
