Colman’s taps into convenience market

Condiments, mustards and packet mixes specialist Colman’s is reaching out to the convenience category by adding ‘meal makers’ to its portfolio.

Citing Kantar Worldpanel, the firm said it was hoping to tap into the 10 million pie occasions every year in the UK. The new sachets, priced at £1.05, are designed to help consumers make traditional British pies from scratch.

The ‘meal makers’ are available in chicken, steak, fish and vegetarian options. “Colman’s is a truly British brand with many years of experience in creating delicious recipe mixes, so it felt natural to extend our portfolio to include traditional British pie variants,” said Camilla Williamson, Colman’s savoury brand manager at Unilever UK, the firm’s parent company.

“With the number of people cooking British dishes on the rise and the average meal prep time shrinking to 35 minutes, our latest additions are designed to make the cooking process quicker and easier for consumers, while also providing them with meal inspiration and confidence in the kitchen.”
