Unilever becomes latest Q Guild corporate member

The Q Guild of Butchers has welcomed Unilever as its newest corporate member.

The relationship will focus on the company’s two mustard brands: Colman’s and Maille.

The move “marks recognition of the heritage at the heart of the Colman’s and Maille brands, as well as the opportunity for Unilever to attract customers that value provenance and quality food”.

Q Guild chairman Mark Turnbull said: “We welcome Unilever’s involvement in the Q Guild of Butchers.  The guild is all about quality in terms of traditional skills, service and products.   Mustard and meat have a long history together and I know that many of our members will find these products complement their existing offering.”

Kirsty Beckman, UK brand manager at Unilever said: “I’m delighted to announce this membership of the Q Guild of Butchers.  It’s a natural step for Colman’s and Maille, which represent principles that are in keeping with the guild’s ethos.  Colman’s is a name that resounds with British pride and was, after all, started in a butchers shop.  Likewise, Maille has a 270 year history of expertise and craftsmanship, with gourmet quality at its heart.

“We look forward to reconnecting with customers who truly value the provenance and standard of their food and so choose independent butchers like those within the Q Guild.  Such a partnership reminds our customers of the history and quality of Colman’s and Maille products, helping to deindustrialise the brands and allowing us to regain a premium position in the market.”

The Q Guild of Butchers represents over 120 members based across the UK.
