AHDB head of livestock export trade development departs

Head of livestock export trade development Jean-Pierre Garnier, known to most in the industry as JP, has decided to leave his role at the Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) after 13 years with the organisation.

“JP has made an invaluable contribution to the industry, helping to secure market access and grow markets for red meat products globally,” said Dr Phil Hadley, AHDB international market development director.

“He also played a key role in helping steer the beef industry through the BSE crisis and, subsequently, re-establishing UK beef exports over the last decade.

“Export market development remains one of the cornerstones of AHDB’s work and we are committed to investing in this area as it is one of the biggest opportunities for our farmers, growers and the food supply chain. As part of that commitment, AHDB is reviewing its export strategy to ensure we can deliver maximum impact in a highly competitive and rapidly changing post-Brexit world’.

“JP will finish with us in January and he will be greatly missed by all his colleagues.”
