Butchers’ roadshow caters to all

With only one week to go to the Autumn Roadshow & Festive Meat Products Competition, butchers across the nation are being encouraged to attend and hone their knowledge.

Organised by the National Federation of Meat & Food Traders (NFMFT), the roadshow is taking place on Tuesday 31 October at the Windmill Village Hotel in Coventry.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about new tools and equipment, as a line-up of exhibitors will be displaying everything from packaging to sundries and ingredients.

With the countdown to Christmas approaching, the event will have a festive theme, with a series of demonstrations and presentations designed to help butchers optimise sales in the winter months.

Furthermore, a ‘Butchers’ Forum’ feature will provide a platform for the industry to network and share tips and ideas regarding seasonal trends and opportunities.

The day will be completed with a Festive Meat Products Competition, which will include seven categories such as festive roasts, mini hams and chipolatas through to pigs in blankets and cold eating pies.

A team of judges will decide the winner on the day, with trophies and certificates being awarded across all categories, plus a special award for the ‘Innovative Festive Product’ and ‘Champion Product’ of the day. Entries must be completed by Friday 27 October. To download a form, click here. The day will come to a close with a hot fork buffet.
