Big Sausage Week: Morrisons launches foot-long sausage

Retailer Morrisons has launched a 12-inch sausage, accompanied with a freshly baked roll, for the run-up to Bonfire Night. 

The release coincides with the Big Sausage Week, which runs from 31 October-06 November. 

Morrisons’ foot-long sausage is produced using 100% British pork and was introduced on 30 October, available until 5 November. Originally priced at 85p, or both the sausage and the roll for £1.50, the price has been decreased to £1.35 for both. “Our foot-long sausage has been very popular, so to help our customers’ bonfire celebrations go off with a bang(er), we are reducing it even further,” said Morrisons butchery expert Matthew Hunns.

“Bonfire Night and sausages go hand in hand, but many customers told us they weren’t satisfied with a typical sausage,” he continued. “So, we put our thinking caps on and created a bigger banger to satisfy firework fans.”

Morrisons expects to sell around 6.5 million sausages in the run-up to Bonfire Night.
