Beef burgers recalled due to E.coli links

Certain batches of Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference four pack Aberdeen Angus British Beef Quarter Pounders (frozen) have been recalled due to a possible link with E.coli 0157.

Investigations from Public Health England identified a small number of cases with E.coli 0157 infection in some of the products. Certain batches have been recalled as a precautionary measure.

Symptoms of the illness include diarrhoea, abdominal pain, bloody diarrhoea and haemolytic uremic syndrome – which could lead to kidney failure and can even be fatal.

The Food Standards Agency warned anybody that purchased the products not to consume them, but instead to return them for a full refund.

Point of sale notices have been displayed across all of Sainsbury’s retail stores selling the product, explaining why they are being withdrawn and what to do if they have been purchased.

The affected products are:

Product: Taste the Difference 4 pack Aberdeen Angus British Beef Quarter Pounders (Frozen)

Pack size: 454g

Batches with ‘Best Before’ dates: July 2018, September 2018 and October 2018

No other Sainsbury’s products are known to be affected.
