Royal Smithfield Club discusses 2018 activities

The Royal Smithfield Club is in talks with all its partner societies and three other organisations about activities for this year following its participation at events at five agricultural-based shows in 2017.

The widespread nature of its 2017 programme, in which it ran competitions at the Three Counties Showground, Countryside Live, Agrifest West, The English Winter Fair, and the Ulster Premier Christmas Show, followed the ending of its Smithfield Festival at the East of England Agricultural Society in 2016.

The Club is looking to attend events again this year and further develop its involvement in the regions this year. It will be awarding the 2018 Bicentenary Trophy and supporting a Next Generation delegate to attend the 2018 Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth Conference in Edmonton, Canada.

Neil Gourlay will also be holding a Club president’s weekend of events in June.

Club chairman William Bedell said he hoped to see members at one or more of its planned events for 2018 as it grows its activities across the country.
