Waitrose lists French bistro-style steak haché

Waitrose has embraced its continental side with the launch of steak haché into its stores.

Dubbed the ‘Posh Hamburger of France’, the retailer said the rising popularity of steak haché, which translates as chopped steak, will see it offered by Waitrose for the first time.

The British Beef Steak Haché is made using prime British steak meat that has been coarsely minced and then pressed into an oval shape with chives, sea salt and black pepper. Steak haché is traditionally served without a bun and is often served with a peppercorn or Bernaise sauce, pommes frites and watercress.

Waitrose British Beef Steak Haché is available in Waitrose branches nationwide priced £3.70 (340g).

Jonathan Moore, Waitrose executive chef said: “French bistros are renowned for cooking superbly simple food, made from the best ingredients to create the delicious dishes which have become synonymous with French cuisine. Steak haché is one of those iconic French bistro dishes – bon appétite!”
